About Me


  • I am Marita and I am a counsellor, psychotherapist and academic psychologist. I use my knowledge and expertise in counselling and psychotherapy to work with clients.
  • If  you are you finding life a struggle and are burdened by anxiety and depression then my therapeutic approach can help you.  

My Approach

  • My integrative approach draws particularly upon person centred therapy, I use a range of skills to work with your issue. We cannot change the past events in our lives but we can choose how we think about them and how they affect our life at present.
  • I offer a warm, supportive confidential service for individuals. I work with you, to explore the best way forward. I will work at your pace. How much you wish to say is your choice.

Expertise

  • Specialist expertise is in working with post graduate students and university researchers.
  • Experience has been gained working with early life crises and life transitions for students and young adults. 
  • I  work with clients on a range of issues from anxiety, depression, sexual identity issues, trauma and bereavement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • My BACP directory registration will be found under Maria Morahan MBACP, CPsychol., AFBPsS, ROPSIP, FHEA.
  • I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I practice using the Ethical Framework of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).  This means clients can place trust in me as their practitioner, when working with their wellbeing and sensitive personal information. 
  • I am a member of the British Psychological Society Register of Psychologists Specialising in Psychotherapy (ROPSIP).
  • In addition to my therapy work I am a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (CPsychol) for my work as an academic and researcher in psychology. I am also an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS) in recognition of my many years working in the field.  
  • I work for the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and have worked for many years as a Senior Lecturer in counselling and psychotherapy and a Senior Lecturer and researcher in psychology.
